Why an Internship is important?

In today’s world, every big companies and organizations are looking for the best candidates to hire for themselves as every one wants the best out of the bunch. Therefore to help the students get familiarized with the practical world, colleges and companies recommend students to gain some work experience so that they increase their chances of getting selected at the best companies. Application Process

Because of the unfortunate pandemic of COVID-19, our lectures and the whole academic schedule got delayed. This affected the end semester exams as well. All the project evaluations and exams got postponed and ran till June end 2020. This gave us a tight time window to search and apply for an internship. I was rigorously looking for work from home internships on different platforms such as Indeed.com, Internshala.com, LinkedIn etc. Various different companies approached me and I was delighted my the response and was excited to get my hands on such opportunities. Some of them had a tedious, long application process and as I was short on time, I needed to act quickly.

I came to know about Greysoft looking for students in their final year for an internship from my cousin, so I got in touch with them. Soon I spoke to different authorities for the position of an RPA (Robotic Process Automation) developer. As I had no previous experience in RPA or Robotics, they were a bit concerned at first, but my work ethic and confidence helped them through their dilemma and they believed I was a right fit for this role. Soon I got the green light and I got through. Starting date and the duration was finalized and I was ready to start a new chapter.

Internship Experience

The first week I immediately started with an RPA crash course, on WinAutomation by Softomotive. Tutorials for the same have been provided on their official YouTube channel. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR-b38eHTD8&list=PL8DDA9639A899B71D) During this time, I had full support from my mentors, which helped both the parties to know each other better. As the internship is work from home, most of the communication was over call or softwares such as AnyDesk which allows remote access. After the crash course, I was given assignments with a deadline. Mr. Vipul Rai was the driving force and helped me through everything for which I am truly grateful.

As I started working under him and developing my RPA bot, I faced quite a high number of challenges, but I was aware this would be the consequence as I had little or no idea about anything in RPA. But my mentors guided me through it and helped me tackle each challenge with a suitable strategy. I thoroughly enjoyed working and learning new stuff everyday. I only hope to continue this forward till the end of the duration.

Conclusion

I was always intrigued by Robotics and I am glad I finally got the opportunity to get a hands-on opportunity. These few weeks have been very interesting and educational for me. I chose Greysoft for this internship as my interest always lie in new technologies.

Almost every second person is talking about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in today’s world, but not about RPA. They tend to forget that this could make use of both. Different RPA tools for reference are — WinAutomation by Softomotive and UIPath. RPA is a new growing industry with endless possibilities and I am looking forward to finish my time here at Greysoft.
